The Proposal|Winter Park Newborn, Kid, Family, and Maternity Photographer

She said YES!!!

Ok, let me back up a little…I was really excited when James contacted me to take photos as he proposed to his then girlfriend, Sarabeth. Although I was a little nervous, because I knew I had to capture the moment exactly right and there were no redos, I couldn’t pass up this amazing opportunity.

Let me set the scene: James not only hired a photographer to capture this special moment, but he had a string trio on hand to play the couples song as he popped the question. Sarabeth thinks they are just stopping at Lake Lily, in Maitland, to take a little walk and enjoy the  amazing weather prior to the couples dinner reservation. As they are strolling around there just happens to be the string players. They sit and enjoy the tunes for a bit on a nearby bench and a photography student (that’s me) asks to take their picture for a project. I was so anxious when I approached them because I didn’t want to accidentally make weird eye contact with James so that Sarabeth would question anything, but I definitely wanted to get a good up close photo with Sarabeth completely unexpecting of what was about to come. They let me take the photo and I moved on to take more fake photos in the area.  After another walk around the lake they stop again to listen to the strings and James asks if they can play their song,”A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.  As they start to play, James gets down on one knee and proposes with Sarabeth’s grandmothers ring!! It was so cool to witness!!! I walked a thin line of wanting to get right in there and get up close reactions and wanting to stay far enough back so that I wasn’t intrusive and didn’t spoil the moment.  It was a whirlwind..and if I felt that way image how James and Sarabeth must have felt!  After saying “yes”and lots of hugs and kisses, James let Sarabeth in on all of the people involved and she was beyond surprised. The best part was still to come… waiting for them at their dinner reservation was their families! James really thought of everything!

I feel honored to have been part of this event that they will remember forever!

Check out the moments leading up to the big question and Sarabeth’s touching reaction.
